Tottenham poised to hand Premier League return to international superstar

In a shock move that few would have seen coming, it seems Arjen Robben could make a sensational return to the Premier League after it emerged that Bayern Munich may be willing to sell the star winger, with Tottenham popping up as potential candidates for his signature.

It seems that the Bundesliga giants have grown increasingly impatient with the injury-prone Dutchman and may finally be ready to let the winger go after seemingly giving up on the cause of keeping the wideman fit.

Harry Redknapp said last month that there was a strong possibility that Spurs could make a ‘major signing’ in the January transfer window as his side look to push their way into becoming a constant staple in the Premier League’s top four.

Money for funds has proven a stumbling block for Spurs in the past, but if they were to free up the £28m necessary to sign Robben, it would certainly fulfil the prophecy of a ‘major signing’ that Redknapp made in December.

Do Tottenham need another winger? They have first choice pair Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale at present and Harry Redknapp should be fairly happy with one and ecstatic with the other. That said every knows that the White Hart Lane boss likes to do deals when transfer windows open and Arjen Robben is a top notch player just as long as he steers clear of injuries.

A number of sources have stated that Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes may consider offers for the 27 year old former PSV, Chelsea and Real Madrid man and no doubt a number of sides will be interested in the Dutch winger who may consider a new challenge ahead of the Euro 2012 finals this summer.

Robben started his Bayern Munich career with a bang, netting 23 goals in his first season as the Bavarian side completed the domestic double and reached the Champions League final. However the past 18 months have been hit and miss for the winger and a move back to London may tempt Arjen Robben, after all at Stamford Bridge he managed to secure two Premier League title successes under Jose Mourinho so clearly he has proven English top tier experience.
